As we prepare for another outstanding school year at Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy, we want to share two important updates that will help us create a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment for all students.
At BLPA, we are committed to helping every student succeed academically while preparing them for future college and career opportunities. To support that goal, we have updated our Uniform Dress Code and Personal Electronics (Cell Phone) Policy for the 2026–2027 school year.
Uniform Dress Code
Our updated dress code promotes a professional, equitable, and distraction-free learning environment while still allowing students to express themselves through solid-color clothing and approved BLPA Spirit Wear.
A few highlights include:
Solid-color polo shirts or button-up shirts are required.
Students may wear jeans, khakis, dress pants, cargo pants, skirts, or shorts that are mid-thigh length or longer.
Hoodies, sweaters, and jackets are permitted when worn over a dress code-compliant shirt (including spirit wear hoodies/outerwear)
Closed-toe shoes are required.
Clothing with offensive language or graphics, ripped clothing, pajama pants, sweatpants, athletic shorts, and unsafe accessories are not permitted.
Friday's will be spirit days-all BLA approved spirit wear (including BLA sweatpants) are approved to wear on designated spirit days.

Personal Electronics (Cell Phone) Policy
To maximize instructional time and minimize distractions, personal electronic devices—including cell phones, smart watches with messaging capability, earbuds, and similar devices—must be powered off and kept out of sight from the time students arrive on campus until dismissal unless an approved exception applies.
This policy is designed to:
Increase student engagement in learning.
Reduce distractions during the school day.
Promote positive peer interactions.
Support student well-being and academic success.
Students who do not follow the policy will be subject to progressive disciplinary consequences. We encourage families to discuss these expectations with their students before school begins. If you need to contact your child during the school day, please call the school office, and we will ensure your message is delivered promptly.
E-Bikes and E-Scooters
Students may ride e-bikes and e-scooters to and from school. Upon arriving on campus, all e-bikes and e-scooters must be turned off, secured with a personal lock at the designated bike rack, and remain parked until the end of the school day.
Students who ride e-bikes should follow all traffic laws, ride responsibly, and wear a properly fitted helmet. We encourage families to discuss safe riding practices with their children, as e-bikes can travel at speeds significantly faster than traditional bicycles
Students may not ride or operate e-bikes or e-scooters anywhere on school grounds, including sidewalks, parking lots, courtyards, or athletic areas during the school day or other times, other than coming to and from school for the day..
Students bring these devices to school at their own risk. Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged e-bikes or e-scooters.
Failure to follow these expectations may result in disciplinary action and/or the loss of the privilege to bring an e-bike or e-scooter to school.
